"I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart—the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword—with Logan’s help—I just might die by the sword..."

Review.
Kiss of Frost brings us back to the world of magic and myth that lies within Mythos Academy. Gwen, a.k.a. Gyspy Girl is having a crash course in training with the gorgeous Logan and is failing in both the fighting and love department. It is rare for me to prefer a sequel to the first book but here I must say, Kiss of Frost, over shadows Touch of Frost. It is exciting with action romance and humor.

The plot stands out in Kiss of Frost. For me, it was more interesting because Gwen is over the shock of Mythos Academy which means we are straight into the story. Of course, Gwen's life is no easier even with Jasmine dead, as other vie for Gwen's head on a stick. Throughout the book there are several different people which could be the Reaper which Gwen believes in after her. You have Kenzie and Oliver, Logan's friends who are helping train Gwen as well as Savannah, Logan's latest squeeze and Preston, a cute guy Gwen meets on the Academy's weekend away. The book has twists and turns and the answer may not be who you think...

Kiss of Frost has a romantic sub-plot. With Daphne, Gwen's BFF, and Carson still together and in love, Gwen is still head over heels for Logan, who is dating Savannah. However, Oliver also has a secret crush that Gwen knows about, but why does it seem he is hitting on Gwen? Luckily for Gwen, Preston, a gorgeous boy from the New York branch is willing to take her mind of Logan.

Overall, a entertaining and pleasant read. You can tell Estep has done her mythic research. Also, a very fast read; I read the book in about three or fours hours. Here's hoping the third book in the series, Dark Frost, out in mid 2012 will be even better.

Rating: 3.5/5.

  1. This book was a good read. Still has the capitalized words that I don't see a reason they need to be capitalized. The story is well written, although the author does tend to remind you of things a few times (in case you missed it the other 3 or so times you read it in the book). It pretty much picks back up not far in the future. The first book ended at the start of summer break, and then book two picks up at the end of summer break. Gwen has come along since the first book. She isn't the loner gypsy girl with no friends. She has her best friend Daphne and Carson.
